Wire Fraud Dedicated to Protecting Your Rights

Van Nuys Wire Fraud Attorney

Fraud Defense Lawyer Serving Southern California

Wire fraud is an extremely serious white collar crime, and a conviction can result in up to 30 years in prison and/or fines of up to $1,000,000. If you are even under investigation for wire fraud and have not yet been formally charged, you still need a skilled lawyer on your side as soon as possible. Wire fraud is a federal crime and you may face investigation and prosecution by federal agencies such as the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) – which has more resources to devote to these cases than local agencies are likely to have.

Van Nuys criminal defense attorney Jonathan C. Rosen is here to help you if you or someone you know has been accused of this grave offense. Mr. Rosen represents clients throughout all of Southern California and offers a free case evaluation where he will discuss your legal matter with you personally and help you understand your legal rights and options at this point in time.

What Is Wire Fraud?

18 USC Section 1343 “Fraud by wire, radio or television” outlines the definition of and penalties for wire fraud under federal law. Wire fraud is defined as transmitting or having another transmit signals, writings, sounds or pictures through interstate wires, television or radio for the purpose of carrying out a scheme to defraud others of property or money. Whether or not the actual scheme is successful, transmitting data through interstate wires for the purpose of committing fraud is enough for a conviction under this federal statute. Penalties may include fines and up to 20 years in state prison. If the offense affects a financial institution, the defendant may face up to 30 years imprisonment or a fine of up to $1,000,000, or both.

It is important that you do not wait to consult a lawyer regarding your wire fraud charges. Time is of the essence, and without aggressive, dedicated representation you may face extremely harsh penalties for a conviction. Do not let yourself face 20 or 30 years in state prison – consult a defense lawyer who can actually help.
